Transformers actor Shia Labeouf is reportedly receiving treatment for an alcohol addiction following recent bouts of bizarre behavior in the past few months.

According to reports, Labeouf has voluntarily sought out help after being arrested in New York on last week for drunken and erratic behavior at a Broadway performance.

This wasn't the young star's first stint of odd behavior. Earlier on the same day, Labeouf was spotted in Times Square trying to engage with a homeless man and just the week before, he reportedly tried picking a fight with a man outside of a Manhattan strip club.

The 28-year-old actor has confirmed that he won't be checking into rehab but will instead be attending a "celebrity-frequented" addiction treatment center in Hollywood.

"He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery," a representative for the young actor stated.

Labeouf was spotted on Monday heading to the treatment center where he was greeted by a security guard and a nurse. The Fury actor seemed out of sorts, prompting a photographer to say that he "was nervous; he didn't look good all morning."

However, observers said with Labeouf it is at times a bit difficult to gauge what part of his erratic moods are performance and what is real life as the actor is known for engaging in strange behavior for the sake of art.

One example was his conduct at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, where he placed a brown paper bag on his head with the words "I am not famous anymore" written on it.

The star later revealed that his actions were all part of a performance art piece, despite critics hoping to claim just the opposite and point to the incident as yet another example of Labeouf's struggle with alcohol.
