Boston Dynamics, an engineering and robotics design company from Waltham, Massachusetts, is designing some amazing advanced robots for organizations like the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the U.S. military and Sony. Google loved it, so they bought the company in 2013.

Just recently, Boston Dynamics released an amazing video of the company's latest creation: an agile, headless robot dog named Spot that can climb stairs and jog alongside its master.

What the famous robotics outfit wants to demonstrate is that Spot has great stability and does a decent job of recovering from a momentary loss of balance.

Spot is Boston Dynamics' smaller sibling to the famous 240-pound (109 kg) BigDog, a quadruped robot designed for the U.S. military with funding from DARPA, and DI-Guy, software for realistic human simulation. Spot has a sensor-laden "head" that Boston Dynamics says helps it conquer a variety of ground cover.

The video shows two workers kick Spot to show he can't be knocked over. The other employee appears to be happy kicking Spot really hard in its torso, and yet little Spot moves his feet and manages to stay on all fours.

Spot uses electricity and hydraulics to move its fancy feet despite its 160 pounds, Spot is arguably one of the team's most capable robo-dogs yet, even surpassing BigDog.
