Facebook to Offer Buying, Selling Options to Every User

Facebook is implementing more buying and selling options on its social network, allowing people to skip auction and sales listing sites like eBay and Craigslist.
The new update will allow people to buy and sell individual items from friends and groups, opening up ecommerce to 1.3 billion users worldwide.

This could be a huge boon for things like ticket sales and merchandise, removing the need to access sites like Ticketmaster or StubHub. Facebook did not disclose how much of the revenue it will take per transaction, but it is probably a minimal amount to interest early adopters.
Users will be able to add a price, photo, description and location, but currently there is no auction functionality, meaning the opening bid will be final.
The update will be pushed to iOS, Android and the web within the next few months. Facebook wants all users to eventually have a credit card saved onto the social network, for immediate payments through Facebook.
This is part of a big push by Facebook into the world of payments and ecommerce, focused on fighting against eBay, PayPal and Amazon. The social network believes a social approach to shopping will generate more revenue for the individual store.
Google is also apparently opening up its ecommerce opportunities, hiring a team of support staff to sell Nexus, Google Play Edition and Chromebooks.
