District Judge John G. Heyburn II ruling, although temporarily on hold, made an impact on the gay community where gay marriage advocates see it as a 'significant milestone.'

According to the decision in favor of two Louisville couples, Kentucky's ban violated the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution by treating gay couples differently than straight couples.

Heyburn rebuffed the only justification that lawyers for Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear had presented -- traditional marriages contribute to a stable birth rate and the state`s long-term economic stability.

"In America, even sincere and long-held religious beliefs do not trump the constitutional rights of those who happen to have been out-voted," Heyburn wrote in the decision made on Tuesday.

Heyburn had previously struck down Kentucky's ban on recognizing gay marriages from other countries and states in February.

However, the ruling added others, posed a substantial dilemma nationwide since it is still unclear when will the state of Kentucky issue marriage licenses.

The Kentucky gays' plight for the legalization of same-sex marriage, which is now legal in 19 states, including the District of Columbia, will be decided once and for all on the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati after the oral arguments on August 6.

In Hollywood, renowned performer Sir Elton John states his opinion about same-sex marriages during an interview with Sky News on Sunday. The British singer and songwriter said Jesus would be the first to support gay marriages.

"[Jesus] was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together. And that is what the Church should be about."
