Laverne Cox has not just landed a new CBS show, but she has also booked the lead role in it! E! News just confirmed that the 30-year old actress is currently working on Doubt, a new legal drama, which is currently in production. While many are happy for Laverne, many are wondering if she is leaving Netflix's hit series, Orange Is the New Black.

In Doubt, the Emmy-nominated star will play the role of Cameron Wirth. Cameron, an attorney and Ivy League graduate is transgender and is described as "competitive as she is compassionate." Just like Laverne, her character is funny and fierce. What makes her character unique is the fact that she has suffered injustice herself, which gives her the determination to "fight all the harder for her clients."
CBS has been praised by viewers for embracing diversity since Laverne is the first transgender to be cast in a lead role for a series, marking a new milestone in the television industry.
The pilot episode is reported to show a defense attorney, who is working at a boutique firm, getting romantically involved with one of her clients who might or might not be involved in a brutal crime.
Just recently, Laverne made news when she booked a guest role on Fox's The Mindy Project and made an appearance on Bravo's Girlfriend Guide to Divorce. Since Laverne seems to be popping up at various television shows, does this mean she's leaving Orange Is the New Black?
Laverne has yet to respond to fans' questions or release an official statement but many are hopeful that Laverne will remain a mainstay on OITNB as production of season three of the series just finished and season four has yet to be given the go signal.
Hopefully Laverne will ask her OITNB co-star Matt McGorry for advice regarding managing two shows. Matt McGorry plays the role of John Bennett in Orange is The New Black and Asher Millstone in How to Get Away with Murder.
Orange is The New Black will be released on Netflix sometime in June.
