This is Bouchard's third straight appearance in a Grand Slam semi-final after being eliminated by Australian Open champion China's Li Na and French Open champion Russian Maria Sharapova.

Kerber, 26, defeated Sharapova in a grueling two hours and 37 minute match that Tuesday that could have affected her match with Bouchard.

Bouchard, 20, will now face French Open runner-up Romanian Simona Halep in the semis.

"I'm excited. She's a very good player. I think she's No.3 in the world. I want to go one step further," said Bouchard, referring to Halep. "It's a normal kind of evolution of things, as the great champions get older the newer ones come in."

The 22-year-old Halep won against last year's Wimbledon finalist German Sabine Lisicki in a battle of runners-up.

Trailing 4-1 in the first set, Halep rallied 11 straight games to win the match in two sets 6-4 6-0 marking her first appearance in the semi-finals of Wimbledon. Halep's win also makes her the first Romanian to reach the semis of Wimbledon.

"I was a little bit lost on court. But in the beginning only," said Halep. "Then I wanted just to keep more rallies, point by point. I did really well. I came back very well. Then I found my way to play and my style. I stayed very aggressive, very close to the baseline, and I did my game. I opened the court very well and (used) the angles, as well."
