Big Bang Theory Out: New Theory Says Universe Has No Beginning and Will Never End

The Universe

(Photo : ESO/Illustris Collaboration) This simulation is for the current state of the Universe and is centered on a massive galaxy cluster. The region shown is about 300 million light-years across.

A new theory claims the Big Bang wasn't the catalyst that started the universe. The universe apparently had no beginning and will never end.

This study is based on a new model applied quantum correction terms to Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. It was made by physicists from the University of Lethbridge, Canada and Benha University, Egypt.

Einstein's theory explains the universe came from an infinite single point so dense it exploded outwards, leading to the Big Bang. This state of singularity has become quite problematic for scientists since it doesn't explain what occurred before or during the moment of the Big Bang.

Physicists using principles from quantum mechanics suggest the universe always existed in a quantum potential. The universe would have collapsed during the hot explosion of gases and matter of the Big Bang. This new model also explains the occurrence of dark matter and dark energy.

The physicists created new equations derived from the quantum-corrected Raychaudhuri equation that can explain the ever expanding universe and its evolution in terms of general relativity. This means that quantum particles can never meet each other or cross the same paths.

According to Saurya Das, author of the study, different points in the universe never converged in the past since the universe didn't have a timeline, a beginning. The universe lasts forever and it won't have an end, leading to the conclusion that there is no singularity.

This means the universe could have gone through phases of becoming big and small.

According to Brian Koberlein, a researcher from the Rochester Institute of Technology, this new theory doesn't suggest the Big Bang never occurred.

The modified Raychaudhuri model eliminates the initial singularity of the Big Bang, supporting the theory of an eternal universe that incidentally has been around a while.

This study was published in the journal, Physics Letters B.
