According to Netease on June 18th, Qihoo 360 plans to launch a mini wireless router. The device is very small, it can plug into any computer's USB port. The router costs 19.9 RMB ($3.27). Except for the cheap price, the router will allow anyone to create a wireless network simply by plugging the router into a computer that has Internet access. The smart dongle will make setting up Wi-Fi easier for mobile devices, all you need to do is find a computer with and Internet connection and plug in your mini router.
The device apparently came out of Qihoo's observations of its customers' behavior. Sina reported the company noticed that users were transferring files from phone to PC and vice-versa using actual cables instead of doing it wirelessly, because establishing the wireless connection was too complicated. Qihoo's new router aims to make it simple. A lot of Chinese netizens commented about this new product and expressed their interests on the smart hardware dongle.
However the new router isn't considered to be a large-scale innovation. It just simplifies the users' steps. Let users access the Internet quickly without setting up the router or wireless Internet access.
The products haven't been sold in large amounts yet. Qihoo 360 only releases a small amount every day; The Company is still at the attempt. However, several netizens have shown the concerns about whether it will automatically upload users' browsing histories to the cloud, a reference to concerns about user data security in Qihoo apps. Plus, the router does not support Windows 8 system yet.
