John Lennon was a Cheating, Drug-Abusing Husband, Former Housekeeper's Legal Documents Say

Legal documents which claimed that John Lennon is a cheating, drug-abusing husband with regard to his relationship with his first wife, Cynthia Lennon, has been discovered recently in the United Kingdom.

A five-page legal document from 1968, written by the lawyers representing Cynthia during the processing of their divorce, has been discovered among the possessions of Dorothy Jarlett, Lennon's former housekeeper. Media reports say that Jarlett, who passed away in 2014, made the statements written in the documents.

Jarlett stated that she found Lennon in bed with his second wife, Yoko Ono, while Cynthia, who was still his wife during the time the document was written, was out of the country.

In addition, the housekeeper claimed that Lennon would hit his son, Julian, whenever he misbehaved, and would often argue with Cynthia about their son, allegedly saying that she was 'too soft' on him.

In the document, Jarlett stated her thoughts about the Lennon household being a 'reasonably happy' until the summer of 1967 when she noticed that the late musician was allegedly 'not as keen as before' to take Cynthia to functions, studio recordings and other activities he had. She then described how there was more tension between the couple, also claiming that Cynthia was often depressed.

Furthermore, Jarlett also described a time when the late Beatle left drugs, particularly cannabis, in different spots in the house.

"This was some months after the time Mr. Lennon started taking drugs, I knew of this, because I began noticing drugs lying around in various parts of the house," Jarlett said in the letter. "It was quite clear to me that Mr. Lennon was smoking pot, and we all hoped that it was a phase."

Although the statements made by Jarlett have created a rather unflattering image for the late Beatle almost 35 years after his death, the documents have been put up for auction and is expected to get almost US$10,000 in biddings.
