A police officer who was involved in the exchange of gunfire was grazed by a bullet but was expected to recover.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said the Iuka Police Department officers were tailing Means's car at around 6:10 pm.
Means allegedly bailed out of his car and ran inside the Walmart store, baffling police officers.
The officers followed him inside the store but Means started to open fire. The police officers had to choice but to fire back to neutralize Means.
No shoppers or civilians were injured in the shooting incident.
The police also have not disclosed the reasons yet why they were tailing the car of Means. The background of the fatality was also not disclosed as of yet.
The Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office posted to Facebook: "At this time we can only confirm there was a shooting at the Walmart in Iuka. There are injuries. No other details are available at this time as the investigation is ongoing. We would like to ask everyone to say a prayer for all involved."
Iuka is about 100 miles southwest of Nashville, Tennessee.
The name of the injured policeman has not also been revealed.
It was not the first time that a shooting incident happened inside a Walmart store. On June 8, 2014, the Las Vegas police said a shooting incident involving officers resulted in injuries and urged people to stay away from the scene.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a tweet that the incident occurred near north Las Vegas, at an address close to a Wal-Mart store.
