The two girls, aged 12 and 13, accused of stabbing a classmate to please fantasy character called Slender Man could be sentenced to up to 60 years in prison, if tried and convicted.
That is, if the Waukesha Country Circuit Court will decide that there is enough evidence to order a trial on first-degree attempted homicide against the two young girls.

The girls have been charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide in the attack on their 12-year-old classmate.
The preliminary hearing to determine if the girls will be charged as adults or be brought to a juvenile court entered its second day on Tuesday.
Each girl faces one count of first-degree intentional attempted homicide in connection with the May attack in a Waukesha park. All three girls involved were 12 at the time of the attack.
Judge Michael Bohren has set aside Monday and Tuesday for the hearing, where he is expected to decide whether enough evidence exists to proceed to trial.
Prosecutors spent Monday outlining the details of the attack through detectives' testimony.
In December, Judge Bohren ruled that the two girls are competent to stand trial but their attorneys have said they will seek to move their cases into juvenile court.
Lawyers for both girls had argued that neither was mentally capable of defending herself on adult charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the May attack in Waukesha, near Milwaukee.
Based on court documents, the two girls had planned out to kill the victim, their own classmate, in order to comply with the order of the fictional Slender Man, a tall, faceless man in a black suit with black tentacles extending from his back.
The two suspects lured their victim into a wooded area of Waukesha park and there stabbed her 19 times.
The victim survived the attack as she crawled to a sidewalk to ask for help. Police, meanwhile, found the two girls who were in possession of two knives.
