Charles Chan may just be recently appointed as TVB's Chairman but he already has big plans for the television station. In a recent interview, he announced that he is planning on expanding TVB to make it an international hub for Asian entertainment. He also revealed that the TV station is going to increase their investment in the production of new movies.

With other rival stations experiencing problems, like ATV's financial woes and HKTV's mediocre viewership ratings, TVB remains to be the top station in Hong Kong's television industry. However, what remains to be the station's main concern is the emergence of other Asian entertainment such as Mainland, Korean and Japanese idol dramas.

Chan remains positive and optimistic about TVB's future and said that they will not be limiting themselves and staying "in the shadows." Aside from making sure that they produce more high quality dramas, they have just added Shaw Brothers Limited to the list of the station's assets and will start on expanding into the film industry, breaking into the Mainland market and going international.

Earlier this year, TVB announced the release of two of their major films, "Triumph in the Skies" and "From Vegas to Macau." The movies are scheduled to hit theaters during the Lunar New Year holidays.

The TV station is hopeful that the movies, which star popular Hong Kong actors, will help TVB break into the competitive movie market in Mainland China.

As for more movie versions of TVB's popular dramas, Chan revealed that it will depend on the box office success of Triumph in the Skies. If the movie is indeed a hit, the possibility of having a movie version of "Line Walker", which was greatly received last year, is highly likely.
