The suspect, Matthew Anthony Scott was arrested Monday after her daughter died from her injuries at Akron Children's Hospital.
The police said 3-month-old Alivia Scott was brought to the hospital on February 5 after what investigators claim was an assault by her father.
The police arrived at the family's home in Cuyahoga after receiving a call around 4:30 p.m.
"Upon arrival, the responding policemen found a 3-month-old baby that was unresponsive," the Cuyahoga Falls police department said in a release.
The baby was immediately taken to the hospital.
The release from the Cuyahoga Falls police department added that after treatment and evaluation by hospital personnel and a police investigation, it was determined that the infant was injured as a result of an assault.
Jaclyn McCormick, the fiancee of Alivia's grandfather, said about three-fourths of the girl's skull has been fractured.
Sources said Scott and his live-in girlfriend had a history of domestic squabbles, including two that involved encounters with police in the 18 months leading up to the child's death.
Investigators revealed that Scott shook Alivia to a degree that it caused traumatic injuries to her brain, skull, neck and left leg, court records say.
The Summit County Medical Examiner has not made an official ruling on the girl's cause of death while an autopsy has been scheduled Wednesday.
Journalists left a message for Scott's lawyer but the message has not been answered as of the posting of this news.
A preliminary hearing has been set next week.
