Facebook added the image function in comments

According to the report from one of the most influential blogs - The Next Web, Facebook has decided to start rolling out ability to insert images natively into comments on Web, and then to mobile. For now, this feature only appears to work with profile pages, but not at the events pages.

According to TheNextWeb reports, Dan Mezieres (Dan Leveille), the product-marketing manager of the artist social networking site devian ART, was the one who discovered this new feature. "Mezieres screenshot shows the Facebook page, Facebook page comment box at the right side there is a camera icon, the user Click on the icon, and you can add a picture in the comments."

When users insert an image into a comment, they can also add a message associated with it. However, only one image can be post per comment. JPEGs and PNG files are the file formats most commonly supported right now, which means no dynamic GIFs can be shared with comments so far in this case.

This feature comes from one of the social network company's hackathons, built by Bob Baldwin, who wrote on his Facebook page:

"When I'm talking with a friend, sometimes showing a photo helps me tell a story much better than words alone. If we're hanging out in person, I can show a photo from my phone, but on Facebook I'd have to post a link to a photo. Now, you'll be able to attach a photo directly when posting a comment. I hope this will make threads with friends more expressive and engaging."
