Typhoon Neoguri is heading towards China’s coastal areas and could enter the southern part of East China Sea on Tuesday morning, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement on Monday.
The typhoon, which was moving at speed of up to 180 kilometers per hour from northwest Pacific Ocean, will bring gales to regions situated along its path, the NMC announced.

As of the last monitoring, Typhoon Neoguri was spotted at 1,100 kilometers southeast of Taipei and is moving northwestward at a speed of 25 to 35 kilometers per hour.
“Typhoon Neoguri has been strengthening and could arrive at East China Sea’s southeastern part on Tuesday morning,” the NMC said in its latest weather bulletin.
Among the areas that will be hit by strong gales, heavy rains and winds are the east of Taiwan, the waters near Diaoyu Islands, northern part of Zhejiang Province, Yangtze River estuary, and most part of East China Sea, the center said.
Typhoon Neoguri, which means a raccoon dog, was named by the Republic of Korea.
The entry of typhoon Neoguri into China could further worsen the weather situation of some parts of the country. Last week, weather authorities raised a blue alert on several areas across China due to heavy rains that have triggered flooding and landslides.
Last month, at least 26 people died in heavy downpour that hit nine provincial-level regions across the country.
Of the total fatalities, 11 deaths were recorded in Hunan, five in Jiangxi, four in Fujian and two each in Chongqing, Guangxi and Guizhou.
The heavy rain had also affected 4.9 million people in Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, and Fuijian.
