Parks and Recreation' Executive Producer Harris Wittels Found Dead

The death of Harris Wittels, the co-executive producer and writer for Parks and Recreation, surprised Hollywood after he was found lifeless in his home in Los Angeles on Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

It was Wittels' assistant who found his dead body, according to an LAPD representative. Police immediately hastened to Wittel's home after the assistant called 911. It is believed that Wittel's death came after a drug overdose.

Aside from executive producing and writing for Parks and Recreation, Wittels also has a recurring role as an animal-control staff. Parks and Recreation is now on its seventh season with its series finale on Feb. 24. Wittels is also a stand-up comedian, a drummer for the band Don't Stop or We'll Die and has written for The Sarah Silverman Program and The Suits.

In 2012 he wrote a book, Humblebrag: The Art of False Modesty, which was adapted from his famous @Humblebrag Twitter account.
