Yahoo Launches Mobile App Development Suite

(Photo : Reuters) Yahoo will continue its search partnership with Microsoft's Bing engine.
Yahoo hosted its first developer conference earlier this week, showing off various applications and services to woo mobile app developers.
Most of the features come from Yahoo's acquisition of Flurry, the mobile analytics firm. Flurry offers analytics on how users move around a mobile app, offering detailed insights for more retention.

In the new mobile development suite, Yahoo has baked its own services into Flurry, including search and advertising. If the suite becomes popular, this might be huge for Yahoo's search share on the mobile market.
Flurry is known for being able to check more smartphones (currently 1.6 billion devices) than Facebook or Google analytics. Over 200,000 mobile developers are signed up to the service and this number is still growing.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer announced 575 million mobile users and Yahoo hit its revenue target for $1.2 billion for 2014. It's clear Mayer's goal is to bring Yahoo into the mobile world, with news apps like Weather and News gaining excellent reviews.
Yahoo without the 15 percent stake in Alibaba and Yahoo Japan is still running on a $400 million operating loss. Mayer needs to continue to invest in new markets and potentially remove some of the poor performers.
