Is Bruce Jenner Facing Criminal Charges After Malibu Car Crash?

Recent reports have proven that it was Bruce Jenner who accidentally prompted the car crash in Malibu that left one woman dead, however legal pros are saying that Jenner is not likely to face criminal charges but a civil suit.

R.J. Manuelian, a criminal defense attorney based on California explained to FOX411 that charges are most likely not going to be filed, but if they are filed, Jenner will be able to avoid going to prison and will "likely be granted probation with no jail time."

However, he added that Jenner's biggest concern right now "should be the wrongful death lawsuit," saying that if his insurance does not cover it, it will definitely put a dent in his pockets.

Authorities investigated the cameras on an MTA bus, as well as another one taken from a gas station located near the scene and found that it was the 65-year old former athlete that caused the chain-reaction crash last February 7.

As reported by the Associated Press, Jenner had an off-road vehicle in tow behind his Cadillac Escalade when he switched lanes to avoid the cars slowing in front of him due to a traffic light. His SUV then rear-ended a Prius, which hit the Lexus and pushed it into the oncoming traffic. The driver of the Lexus, 69-year old Kim Howe, got hit by a Hummer and died later on at the scene.

One LAPD homicide detective, who wasn't authorized to speak about the issue revealed to FOX411 that the case is already in the D.A.'s hands, but corresponded to what legal pros said that "manslaughter charges" against Jenner is unlikely.

The detective explained that to face somebody with a criminal charge in this car crash, the evidences should prove that he was negligent.

Manuelian also said that if Jenner was proven to be driving with negligence then he may be charged with a "misdemeanor-punishable up to one year in jail-or a felony under Penal Code Section 190(c)(1) and can be sentenced to a maximum of six years," but he continued to say that it is an unlikely scenario for Jenner as it is the reality star's first encounter with the law.

Investigators have also checked the drivers' phone records to learn if any of them were distracted or using their phones at the time, while they have yet to release their findings, the video seemingly shows that Jenner wasn't tinkering with his phone when the accident happened.

Radar Online reported last Thursday that the L.A. County District Attorney has asked investigators to hand over their findings, signifying that the case is being examined seriously and handled by the Major Crimes division.
