YouTube Claims Slow Video Buffering Isn't Its Fault

YouTube is washing its hands of problems involving playback issues, slow video buffering and blurry images by saying all this is the Internet Service Provider's (ISP) fault.

It's the same thing online streaming media provider Netflix said about the stuttering and slow buffering of its videos its customers complained about. Netflix pointed out that users and subscribers should blame their ISPs for really slow connections.

YouTube started its own Video Quality Report so users can send feedback regarding the performance of their chosen ISP. The Video Quality Report rolled on the last week of May and carries an explanation as to why video buffering problems are not YouTube's fault.

Users can see a blue bar bar below the buffering or choppy video thatsays "Experiencing interruptions?" They have an option to click the "find out why," which will redirect them to a new Google website that shows video playback quality for the ISP and checks their service in their respective areas.

"The Verizon network is crowded right now," was the notification displayed on Netflix and YouTube about buffering video problems.

In counter statement, Verizon said the message is misleading and that it plans to take legal action.

ISPs claim that crowded networks are inevitable and that video streaming services must find fast lanes for their data.

Google has begun to label some ISPs as "YouTube HD Verified," which is its seal for quality videos good for streaming.

The Video Quality Report is available in the U.S.A., Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
