Oculus VR has temporarily halted selling the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset developer kits in China because many of the purchasers only bought them to grain profit from reselling.
A Chinese buyer posted his complaint on the /r/Oculus subreddit about the cancellation of his order of an Oculus Rift DK2 for no apparent reason. A representative from the company explained the situation to the customer, GameSpot reported.

The representative said they had to suspend the sales of the product in China because of the extreme number of resellers buying the product. Since it is a developer kit, the company wants to make sure that it falls into the hands of developers who want to develop virtual reality (VR) content.
In addition, the representative said enthusiasts who only want to try the gadget should wait for the consumer edition of the product. Oculus VR is currently looking for alternative methods of ensuring that the development kits are delivered only to legitimate developers in China.
Based on a report by PC Magazine, the Facebook-owned virtual reality headset maker indicated that the preorders for its Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 (DK2) had reached the 45,000 mark a few days ago. However, the company can only ship about 10,000 of the $350 kit by the end of July and the rest are to follow in the coming weeks after that.
The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset Development Kit 1 sold 60,000 units. This indicates that good demand awaits the final version of the gadget.
Oculus has not disclosed the exact number of reseller purchases going on in China, but the company's representative emphasized on the fact that they had to suspend the sales for "an entire country" to address the issue.
As of now, Oculus does not have a target schedule for solving the problem, but the representative mentioned that it is now one of the firm's top priorities.
