Chinese Boxer Zou Shiming Heads ‘Champions of Gold’ in Macau

Chinese boxer Zou Shiming, along with unified junior featherweight world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, will head a group of Olympic medalists in Top Rank's "Champions of Gold" slated July 19.

The two-time Olympic Gold medalist Zou will fight his 5th professional boxing match against a boxer that will be named shortly.

Zou has won Olympic Gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

He has also won gold medals in the World Amateur Championships in 2005, 2007 and 2011.

He was considered to be the greatest amateur light flyweight and is one of the most popular Chinese athletes.

Undefeated Cuban Rigondeaux will be defending his titles against Sod Looknongyantoy of Thailand who is currently ranked No. 5 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and No. 8 by the World Boxing Assocation (WBA).

Rigondeaux, also known as "The Jackal" has unified the WBO and WBA junior featherweight belts by defeating Filipino-American and 2012 Fighter of the Year Nonito Donaire in April 13, 2013 at the Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Rigondeaux is a former Olympian as well, winning gold medals in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games and World Amateur Championship titles in 2001 and 2005.

Two other Olympians will be fighting in the undercard. Viloria, from Waipahu, Hawaii is a former 2000 Olympian and Russian Egor Mekhontsev, a light heavyweight gold medalist in the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Other notables that will be fighting in separate bouts will be undefeated North American Boxing Federation (NABF) / North American Boxing Organization (NABO) super middleweight champion Mexican Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez, undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian super flyweight and WBO Asia Pacific junior bantamweight champion Rex "The Wonder Kid" Tso from Hong Kong plus local favorites Ik Yang and "The Macao Kid" Ng Kuok Kun will also be battling it out in the ring.
