Marking the 25th anniversary of the Web this year, it's no surprise that 87% adults use the internet on a daily basis and 68% go online via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets according to Pew Research.

Digital footprints are increasing in a massive rate and sharing personal information may seem second nature. Online privacy could be a thing of the past.

Fortunately, it's also a valid option nowadays to erase personal profiles online and dissappearing completely from the internet. It's no easy feat to erase all those personal profiles scattered around the web but there's a nifty site where one can erase all of them.

JustDelete.me provides a comprehensive list of websites that includes social networks, email, shopping and entertainment sites that also includes tips and notes how to erase information from them.

After making a list of all those accounts, sorting them one by one depending how often it is used can be most effective. Keeping track of all online accounts is essential when it comes to downloading files and data a user wants to keep or discard.

However there are sites that won't let go of their users' profiles and information. These sites include Etsy, Gawker Media, Netflix and Twitter.

When it comes to deactivating a Facebook account, all posts and images can be downloaded by going to Settings and clicking "Download a copy of your Facebook data".

Apart from social networking sites and email, there are the search engines. For Google, Bing and other search engines to remove anyone's digital footprint in their search results, it's best to approach the source which is the original website itself.

It's only logical to look for the website manager or writer but if there's no contact information on the site itself, just type in "whois www.site-name.com" and include the quotation marks. This will give information about who registered the site, contact information and email. Lastly, if it's virtually impossible to contact these websites, Google can help with its URL removal tool.
