A recent poll run by the Associated Press' GfK recently revealed that Americans, specifically the middle class, think that they are paying too much tax and debated that the rich people are not being taxed enough.

The poll came just days after United States President Barack Obama proposed in the 2016 budget that the investment taxes on high-income American families will increase.

The poll showed that at least 56 percent of the respondents feel that their taxes are already too steep so the planned increase would possibly be supported by many since the proposal of Obama focuses on taxing the wealthier more in order to lower the tax on the middle class.

However, the proposals of Obama are expected to be possibly opposed by the Republican-led Congress.

Two-thirds of the respondents, or six out of then Americans, think that rich individuals and families do not pay enough their federal dues and the poll shows that Americans will support specific tax raise with certain conditions.

The conditions include the raise of capital gains taxes on households that has income greater than US$500,000 and a new tax on bank.

Also, 71 percent of the Democrats approved the supposed increased and 46 percent of Republicans supported the proposals.

One of the respondents, Bob Montgomery of Virginia, an already retired man from working at an auto dealership, noted that the more people are making, the more taxes they should pay.

He said he cannot see the logic behind someone who makes US$50,000 a year paying as much tax as someone who makes US$300,000 annually.

One of the public figures that showed support for Obama's proposal is possible 2015 Presidential candidate for the Democrats, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

She took it to Twitter that Obama already pointed the way to an economy that works for all so Americans need to step up and deliver for the betterment of the middle class.
