According to market researchers mobile ad spending is to gain a big boost this year. They believe they the figure could increase by as much as 87 percent, or $17 billion, as more and more people are spending a lot of time on tablets and smartphones.
Last year, the share of mobile ad spending was meager 5.7 percent of the total $171 billion. However, now with its rapid growth it is quite likely that it will surpass ad spending on computers and laptops. By 2016 it would garner a 26 percent market share of ad spending, according to sources.

Mobile marketing is to gain a lot of momentum in the upcoming years, and by 2018 it would become the most popular ad channel, only second to television advertising. eMarketer, which is a popular authority on digital marketing, has also made similar predictions.
As mobile based ad spending is gaining popularity, old and conventional media such as radio, magazines, posters, and newspapers are losing interest of advertisers. According to eMarketer by 2018 the total media advertising would amount to abouy $221 billion.
Facebook and Google are the two winners in the mobile-focused future. While Facebook has been working hard to increase its market share in mobile based advertising lately, Google is already enjoying its 10 percent share of total ad spending in US. These two tech giants will be the ones to look at in the coming years, as they both vie against each other.
