A new school that caters to providing cannabis knowledge and training in Natick, Massachusetts is targeted to open in late August to early September.
The Northeastern Institute of Cannabis is currently in the process for registration as an official trade name, said founder and pot activist Mickey Martin.

The school's 12-course program curriculum will include information with regard to the plant's growing techniques and medical applications. It will equip students with the knowledge on how to operate a distribution center, as well as providing a historical and legal overview of the growing pot industry.
A relatively high enrollment rate is expected once the school opens with the recent legalization of medical marijuana in the state and the numerous marijuana dispensaries in Natick, according to Martin.
"You have new (marijuana) industries starting up in states all across New England but you have a virtually untrained workplace. Most (training programs) are in Colorado and California, but for someone to travel that far to get trained is just not realistic," he said.
As an increasing number of states have begun to legalize medical marijuana use, it is highly likely that the demand for educated workers in this field will also rise.
"This is one of the largest growth industries in America, and it's not just stoners and people who like weed anymore - it's a business," Martin said.
"We're targeting your basic worker, someone who wants to go to a dispensary and apply for a job, because these places want people who are trained."
He said that at least 500 people have already approached him about the course.
Interested students must have at least a high school diploma or a GED. The classes will be held at night or during the weekends to accommodate full-time workers. The 12-course program will cost $1,500 while a four-hour course will cost $199, according to CNN.
Upon completion of the course, a "Cannabis industry certification" will be awarded to the student.
The construction of the 7,500 square-foot privately funded building is currently ongoing.
