Body in Submerged Car is Missing Florida Woman -Police

Tampa police have positively identified a body retrieved from a submerged vehicle on Sunday as that of a woman who has been missing for several days, U.S. television networks reported.

Investigators officially declared the remains from the car as that of Apryl Foster, 33. The Chevy Aveo found at the bottom of Brandon Lake near the rear of a boat ramp is the vehicle that the missing woman was driving when she disappeared from a Tampa bar on February 12, they added.

Authorities pointed out the clothes on the body were consistent with what Foster had been wearing when she went missing.

The car was found about half mile from the missing person's home, networks reported.

Foster was last spotted, based on indoor camera footage, heading out of a Tampa bar at past 2:00 in the morning on February 12. She was walking along the sidewalk alone.

The body's autopsy is expected to give a clue how she died. Investigators said doubt foul play in the cause of death, but warned it was too early to tell.

The victim's mother said she was thankful that her family now knows "she is with Jesus," adding she could not live with the uncertainty, not knowing what exactly happened to her daughter.

Police declined to say if any of the surveillance video showing Foster would be made public. They did say the missing person case has been closed.

Detectives said people aboard boats on the lake saw an unidentified object in the water over the weekend. A local with surveillance cameras found footage of the vehicle moving into a parking lot, then drawing near the boat ramp and then running into the water.

The clip has not been made public, but the victim's friend Rachel Swafford said she already viewed it. She said the video shows her friend driving through the unlocked lake gate, then turning on the car blinker and diving right into the water.
