Harry Potter Is Back, Turning 34 This July

Harry Potter has made a comeback as his 34-year-old self in J.K. Rowling's latest short story for her Pottermore website.

The piece is written using the point-of-view of Rita Skeeter, Rowling's gossip correspondent and journalist for the Daily Prophet. The story offers a look at how life has turned out to be for Harry, Ron, Hermione and their friends.

There are some things about the characters that remained the same, including Harry's round glasses -- described in the story as far more appropriate for his teenager self working as an Auror -- and his longing to capture dark wizards.

Skeeter wonders whether new mysteries will come up in the future, or if the Potter family will remain as happy and intact as they are now.

During the finals of the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, Ginny Weasley-Potter, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood had all been present, all of whom had been an essential part of the war against Voldemort.

Similar to Harry, Ron Weasley was said to have been employed at the Ministry of Magic, although he left office two years later to help manage the booming gag shop for wizards -- Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes.

Hermione Granger, once a straight-A student and dubbed the best in their class, has become the deputy head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Longbottom now works at Hogwarts, putting into effect his passion for Herbology, while Lovegood has wed Rolf Scamander and has remained as unconventional as the Looney Luna in the books.

The short story was written by Rowling as an element in a series of stories centered on the 2014 Quidditch Cup and will be published in Pottermore.

The final piece will be made available on July 11 with which Ginny Potter, as a journalist, makes coverage of the final game between Brazil and Bulgaria.
