Taylor Swift did exactly what she said she would when she donated US$50,000 to the New York City of Education.
The 25-year old singer is famous for her philanthropic ways and she came through on her pledge, when she said last fall that she will donate all the profits from her hit song "Welcome to New York," a track off of her fifth studio album 1989, to New York City's public schools.

An official for the New York City Department of Education has confirmed Taylor's generous US$50,000 donation, although Taylor has not yet made a formal announcement or confirmed the news publicly.
Taylor, who has two homes in Manhattan, first revealed her plan in October of last year when she appeared on the show "The View." Talking about her hit single, she said that it's selling and doing really well, "which is good because I'm donating all my proceeds to New York City public schools."
It is still uncertain whether or not her US$50,000 donation is the full amount of her profits from the song or if it was just a portion of a much bigger donation.
Taylor, who is at the number one spot of Do Something's "Celebs Gone Good" list, which recognizes the most charitable celebrities, for already three years, also organized an event in the fall of last year for NYC school kids to discuss the importance and power of writing and reading.
