The eye of the typhoon has passed the eastern part of Miyakojima in the Okinawa Prefecture of Japan and has caused massive waves in their shores. It is now located circling around the waters of the East China Sea.

Typhoon Neoguri now has maximum wind speeds of up to 110 mph (161 kph) and wind gusts of up to 135 mph. Its general movement is towards north at a speed of 12 mph. It has further decreased its winds and is now classified as a Category 2 cyclone.

One life has already been claimed by the typhoon after his boat was hit by dangerously high waves and more than 50,000 household are left without power in Okinawa, NHK national television reported. Footages show collapsed roofs, rocking street lights and branches blown down as Neoguri batters Okinawa.

Forecasts show that the typhoon will be reaching mainland Japan Thursday morning at the Prefecture of Kumamoto and will exit Hyuga in the Miyazaki Prefecture, traversing the waters east of Japan, partially reaching land at Tosashimizu in the Kochi Prefecture.

Neoguri will slow down to a tropical storm as it passes the eastern shores and enters land again at Hamamatsu in the western Shizuoka Prefecture. It will pass over Tokyo before exiting the city of Mito in the Ibaraki Prefecture.

The tropical storm became a typhoon Friday or an equivalent to that of a hurricane in the Western Pacific and slowly made its way west-northwest over the Pacific. It increased to a Category 4 cyclone Monday as it passes by the waters of the Philippine Islands. The storm reduced to a Category 3 cyclone as it enters the eastern part of Miyakojima in the Okinawa Prefecture. It is the strongest tropical cyclone this year so far.
