'Stand by Me Doraemon' Tops Hong Kong Box Office; 'Dragon Blade' Is Mainland China’s No. 1 Film

Hong Kong's local box office took a hit at the Lunar New Year holiday as "Stand by Me Doraemon" topped the local box office.


Louis Koo's "Triumph in the Skies" and Chow Yun Fat's "From Vegas to Macau 2", two films that have been heavily promoted, were also huge winners at the box office.

Wong Jing, who produced the Chow Yun Fat starrer, was happy with the film's gross that he announced he'd be hosting a thanksgiving banquet.

Cast member Carina Lau was also happy with the film's box office result and admitted that she'd be joining Chow Yun Fat at a dinner gathering to celebrate the film's success.

 "Of course, I'm happy about the great box office results, as I can also shine in its halo!" Karina said.

Actress Charmaine Sheh was also happy with the strong results of "Triumph in the Sky".

"I'm very happy over the healthy box office. It's a great start for the Year of the Ram. Thanks to the audience's support!," she said.

Jackie Chan's Dragon Blade, meanwhile, was a huge winner at the Mainland box office, followed by Vegas to Macau 2.
