"Each of your information messages is a bullet in your enemy's conscience," said a statement posted on the main page of the website during its launch.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Information Policy is the one heading this project and is urging volunteers to join the internet army by signing up in the website.
According to the Ministry, "many fronts have been opened against us and one of the most crucial ones is the information one. Now, it is time to fight back the Russian invaders on the information front."
Minister Yuri Stets said that this information army is to counter false information from Russian chat bots.
He is positive that many will sign up to join the iArmy. He added that more than 20,000 have already joined the internet army.
Accordingly, Ukrainian blogger Oleksandr Baraboshko serves as the adviser of the Ministry of Information Policy for this endeavor. He oversees the operations of the website i-army.org.
On 02 December 2014, the Ukrainian Government created the Ministry of Information Policy to prevent attacks against Ukraine through information drive.
Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko said that the Ministry will promote genuine and authentic information about Ukraine.
Minister Stets averred that the Ministry also acts in counter to the aggression of Russia in its information drive. This will also help promote Ukraine to other countries, establishing stronger diplomatic ties.
Aside from online information efforts, Ukraine is also planning to establish a television channel.
The TV program Ukraine Tomorrow is allegedly to counter Russia Today.
