Having Scarlett Johansson in your band can no doubt help increase sales and boost marketing efforts, but the actress' new band's decision to call themselves, "The Singles" has been met with an objection.

Unfortunately for Scarlett and the rest of her band members, there is already a rock duo called The Singles and when they heard that their name was being used by another band, they immediately sent a cease-and-desist order to the Avengers star.

Vincent Frederick, singer, as well as guitarist for the The Singles, said that if Scarlett and her band simply researched online, they would have known that there is already a band using the same name. 

In a statement issued by Vincent, he said, "I woke up one morning and learned from the news that our band name was literally just taken by someone else as their own." Adding that he found it difficult to believe that a fellow musician would take another musician's name.

The Singles' members have been together for 16 years and revealed that they have worked so hard to achieve their success.

The Singles' Vincent and drummer Nicky Veltman have been enjoying coverage on several indie music websites and has a modest amount of likes on their Facebook page.

It was just last week when Scarlett announced her new all-girl band, which they chose to call The Singles. The band members include songwriter Holly Miranda and Haim's Este Haim. 

They released their first single "Candy," which, as implied by its name has a bubble gum, pop dance vibe. 

It is still uncertain what Scarlett's response to the cease-and-desist letter is, as the actress herself or representatives from her label have yet to comment. A cease-and-desist order is an official demand asking the recipient to stop a particular activity or else, face legal action. 

Scarlett, who is best known for playing Black Widow in The Avengers has long been active in the music industry and has even released an album in 2008, which featured songs written by the renowned Tom Waits.
