At least four children were among the six people who were shot to death at a home in Spring, Texas late Wednesday (US time), authorities said.
Initial reports showed that the incident was a domestic disturbance and that the victims and the suspect belong to one family.
The police said law enforcers received a domestic disturbance call and was informed that the suspect was on his way to a restaurant to shoot another family member.

The police were able to intercept the suspect before he got to his destination.
As of this posting, the suspect was still inside his car, armed with a handgun that he was holding to his head.
Nearby homes have already been evacuated as negotiation between the suspect and the police was still on going.
A grim scene, however, met policemen who went to the house as they found three children and two adults already on the ground bathe in their own pool of blood.
A fourth child died on the way to the hospital.
The woman, who called the police, was also shot and was declared in critical condition at a local hospital.
