Cruel Romance, set to premiere on Hunan Satellite TV on March 3, tells the tale of a country girl named Rong Jinxiu, who finds herself in the middle of the chaotic world of Shanghai in the 1930s. She meets Zuo Zhen, who falls in love with her and risks everything just to win her over.
Zuo Zhen appears to be extremely cold-hearted and aloof but he shows his softer side to the people close to him--a characteristic that Xiaoming reveals he can tremendously relate to. Huang Xiaoming recalls the scene where his character was waiting outside Jinxiu's house and preparing his love interest a meal. According to Xiaoming, simple things like those are the ones that speak the loudest.
Xiaoming remarks that there is no need to do something extravagant to show one's love for someone, sharing that last Valentine's Day, he cooked for Angelababy. He explained that it is the intent that matters and the most important.
After making their relationship public on February of last year, Xiaoming says that he can now be more honest with the fans. Explaining that he refrained from talking about his relationships in the past because he feared that discussing them might affect his work. However, after several years, he says that he's learned that what people actually care more about is openness and honesty.
Xiaoming says that it was Angelababy who changed the way he thought of handling their relationship and helped him become more open with fans. The Mainland Chinese actor said that it's nice to be able to bravely love someone without worrying what others might think.
As for the never-ending question about when they plan to get hitched, he simply said, "Right now, I hope to spend more time with my family and lover. If there is happy news on the horizon, I will definitely let everyone know."
