Chinese telecom giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. along with U.S.-based semiconductor company Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and British mobile network operator EE Ltd recently announced the demonstration of an LTE category 9 wireless technology at Wembley Stadium in London.
Opened in 2007, Wembley has 90,000 seats and is considered the second largest stadium in Europe. It also hosts major football matches, including England's national football team home matches.

With the wireless network, the companies have successfully achieved data speeds of up to 400 Mbps during the demonstration.
"We are thrilled to see the innovative technology of LTE-Advanced coming to reality in a place like Wembley Stadium where a speed-hungry application like 4K video streaming is much needed by many simultaneous users." said Mohammad Madkour, Huawei's vice president marketing of the wireless network product line.
"To meet end user expectations, a much higher capacity and a more reliable connection to mobile devices is required," Madkour added.
"Huawei's collaboration with EE and Qualcomm Technologies has allowed all three companies to showcase what is made possible through LTE-Advanced".
According to Huawei, EE had aggregated 20 MHz of 1800 MHz spectrum with another 20 MHz of 2.6 GHz, and a third carrier of 15 MHz of 2.6 GHz, to achieve the 400 Mbps speed.
EE said the new 4G LTE network will be available to visitors at the stadium starting next month.
"This demonstration at Wembley Stadium is an opportunity to show the world the future of the EE mobile network, and what 3-carrier aggregation can do," said Tom Bennett, EE's director of network services and devices.
"We're showcasing incredibly high speeds here, but what we're also showcasing is amazing capacity -- the ability to provide a great internet connection to so many people all at the same time is vital."
The Chinese giant also recently announced plans to showcase new ICT innovative technologies for smart cities, among others, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain.
At a pre-MWC event, Huawei also unveiled its High-Throughput Router (HTR) technology that promises consumers zero wait time and no lag when streaming 2K and 4K videos via mobile broadband.
