The 'That Dress' debate was trending on the internet Thursday and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson weighed-in on the issue.

Tyson isn't jumping into the debate about what color "That Dress" is, but asks if we should call it an optical illusion.

There was broad disagreement over the photograph of the dress posted online. The dress appears white and gold to some people and black and blue to others.

Not only celebrities had a say, though. Scientific minds joined in, explaining the optical illusion created by the dress.

There were a few explanations offered - that some viewers' eyes compensated automatically for the poor lighting; that the power of suggestion was behind the different views, and that looking at something dark before looking at the screen could make one see the dress differently.

People asked Tyson about the dress and what color he saw. Tyson didn't reveal what color he noticed but said it's not an optical illusion.

He also explained the process about how an optical illusion fools a viewer's eyes. Calling the dress an optical illusion means viewers should accept their brains are flawed.

If we were honest about the shortcomings of human physiology then "optical illusions" would instead be labeled "brain failures", he said on his tweet

He also pointed out the flaws in the human body and its functions.

The science education enthusiast said "That Dress" is the most controversial subject on the internet. He said the dress has sparked a confusing debate that will remain on Internet for a long time.

He didn't reveal what colors he sees, but instead wants people to think more about how optical illusions work.
