People Sense App for Windows Phone Being Tested by Microsoft

Apple has an app called Find My Friends while Android devices also offer its users ways to locate relatives and friends.

Windows phone users, however, remain dependent on third-party apps to do this same thing. That's about to change. Microsoft Place, specifically the Spanish language site, announced the Windows giant is currently developing an app named "People Sense" quite similar to Apples' app.

People Sense won't only offer the same services as Apple or Google but will have additional useful features, as well.

Microsoft codenamed the app "Buddy Aware".

Using Bing maps, the app provides accurate locations of people in real-time. It's able to give thorough information on how to reach a friend.

Call and message features are also integrated in the app. The current build, however, failed to notify the user if his or her friends are near.  Since the app is still a work in progress, the missing feature might still be added in future builds.

The app in development will enable Windows phone users to share their locations and track the location of friends with similar devices.

The basic use of the app is to find your friends. The integrated call and message tools also enable you to reach out to them. Getting an accurate direction to their whereabouts will make it easier for you and your friends to meet in person.

Microsoft has yet to issue an official release date for the app. The app, however, is now under beta testing but isn't available to the general public.

Not many people will probably use this app since majority of smartphone users are either using an iPhone or an Android.

People Sense may be included in Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows 10.
