Kevin Whitney, a farmer from from Oklahoma, USA, dropped his iPhone into a grain bin packed with sorghum.
Having lost his iPhone among 280,000 pounds of grain, he literally lost any hope of ever seeing the phone again. Little did he know that fate had something else in store for his device.

Well, Whitney's lost iPhone is back in his possession. How? It's a story that combined chance with human kindness.
His missing iPhone traveled around the world in a grain shipment. The phone took a trip on a truck, a barge and a ship before being unloaded in Japan.
An astounded but big-hearted worker at a grain facility in Japan found the iPhone and decided to send it back to the owner. He mailed the iPhone to Whitney after doing some detective work to find out where Whitney was.
As expected, the iPhone was in a very weathered condition when it reached Whitney. He was, however, able to turn on the phone and access the photographs of his daughter's wedding and other memorable family occasions.
He was quite amazed at all this and was happy beyond words. He now believes the world is indeed quite small.
The saga of Whitney's iPhone isn't that rare. A kayaker once lost his phone under the waves only to get it back after two months in perfect working condition. A beachcomber had found it and returned it to him.
In another case, a phone dropped from a skydiver's helmet landed in a pigpen. It was found a couple of months later.
