The Beijing Institute of Cultural Heritage announced on Sunday the recent discovery of a 70-hectare archeological site with artifacts covering three Chinese dynasties.
Archeologists call the area a rare discovery given its size, eras covered and location. It has 129 tombs built during the East Han Dynasty, which was from 25 to 220, the Tang Dynasty from 618 to 907 and the Liao Dynasty from 907 to 1125, in effect, covering more than 1,100 years, reports China.org.

Among the items found on the tombs were elaborate murals that depict people and furniture. It also has other artifacts such as pottery, porcelain, lacquerware and other items for funeral.
The site was accidentally discovered as part of the mandatory screening of all plots of land before development, based on a 2014 municipal cultural protection initiative. Underneath the planned residential complex was the site.
China has a number of other interesting underground tombs. One of it is the famous Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor found in Xi'an's Lintong District, province of Shaanxi in northwestern China, Yibada reports.
The remains of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, are buried. Qin, who died on September 10, 201 B.C., is known for heading the conquest of six countries which eventually formed part of the present China.
During his reign, the Yue lands of Hunan and Guangdong from campaigns in the south and the Ordos Loop from the Xiongnu during campaigns in Central Asia were added to the size of China.
The site has the emperor's corpse as well as many secrets of Chinese society. The emperor is also credited with the unification of various state walls into the Great Wall of China and the mausoleum being guarded by the Terracotta Army that are life-size.
