North Korea Complains to the United Nations about Seth Rogen’s 'The Interview'

North Korea Continues to Slam Rogen-Franco’s The Interview, Complains to the UN

North Korea has brought its beef on the upcoming Hollywood comedy film "The Interview" starring Seth Rogen and James Franco to the United Nations.

The film clearly promotes "terrorism" against North Korea and should be deemed as an "act of war," according to North Korea's ambassador to the U.N. Ja Song Nam, who wrote a letter to the U.N. Security Council on June 27.

He also asked to U.N. secretary general Ban Ki-moon for the U.S. to carry out immediate actions in banning the promotion and distribution of the film. If not, the movie will be held accountable for encouraging and supporting terrorism.

In the movie, Franco and Rogen play a TV host and a producer, respectively, who land an interview with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The talk show duo is then hired by the Central Intelligence Agency to gun the dictator down.

Aside from Jong-un's assassination, "The Interview" also mocks the myths attributed to the highly reserved Communist state.

While the movie uses comic elements similar to those of "Pineapple Express," another movie by Rogen, North Korea does not approve of its portrayal in the upcoming film.

Kim Myong-chol, executive director of The Center for North Korea-US Peace, expressed the country's condemnation of the movie.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Myong-chol said the film was an inappropriate means of expressing American desperation. He also stated that making a movie about a foreign leader's assassination reflects similarly reckless American actions against Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine.

Myong-chol also cautioned President Barack Obama to be vigilant, saying that the "U.S. military would prefer to assassinate him as well."

Nonetheless, Myong-chol admitted that Kim Jong-un would most likely watch the movie when it is released.

"The Interview" premieres in October.
