Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd is coping with another allegation that one of its suppliers in China employed minors to assemble its electronic devices.

China Labor Watch alleges that some Samsung workers at Shinyang Electronics in Dongguan, China are below China's legal working age. These underage employees allegedly work 11 hours a day without overtime pay and insurance.

These underage workers were fired after three to six months and were not given any redundancy pay.

The charge contradicts a recent report by Samsung that its 100 Chinese suppliers were not using child labor. Samsung also reiterated its commitment to eliminate labor violations and cut ties with suppliers that do not comply with its guidelines.

Samsung said it is against child labor. It pointed out that it routinely performs inspections to supervise suppliers to make sure they follow company rules and the law.

“We are urgently looking into the latest allegations and will take appropriate measures in accordance with our policies to prevent any cases of child labor in our suppliers,” Samsung added.

Other major electronic brands also had their share of problems regarding child labor.

Apple was in the same situation a few years ago when Foxconn, a Taiwanese company and Apple’s biggest contract manufacturer, was hit by a rash of worker suicides and charged with implementing “inhumane” working hours.
