"I have confidence of doubling the current sales of Chow Tai Fook in three years." Zheng Jiachuan, the chairman of Chow Tai Fook Group, said so to his investors one year ago.

"Undeniably, the base sales of 2011 and 2012 were both too high , and effected by the sluggish consumptive ability of mainland China, we definitely couldn't realize a 70% growth rate, doubling sales in three years and tripling it in six years are middle or long-term goals. We need to pay attention to average figures, it is not fair for us that the public only focus on conditions of one year." Zheng Jiachun argued for himself nowadays.
In the February 2012, Zheng Yutong, who is honored as "the jewelry king", retired for a second time, and gave his place to his oldest son, Zheng Jiachun. Then, the one-year sales announced to the public can be regarded as a "myth of mainland China", the net profit grew by 79.23% to HK$ 6.3 billion, plus tourists from mainland China bought Chow Tai Fook products with Unionpay in Hong Kong and Macau, the general sales of mainland China took 77.6% of this group's whole sales that years.
However, those golden days are gone. The selling status receded by a large step this year. And the annual report shows that the drop of mainland China is 3%, while the growth rate of the same time last year is 48.4%. Last year, there were 269 Chow Tai Fook newly opened, while 209 this year.
Generally speaking, the weakness of gold price effects short-term figures, but the profit reserves hided on the balance sheet also arises relatively.
