LG Reveals a Flexible TV Panel That Could be Rolled Up Smoothly

LG has come up with two unique kinds of TV display panels, one of which is extremely flexible, and the other one is virtually transparent.
Both types of panels are available in 18-inch sizes for now. People can use these kinds of TV panels to put them easily on walls at home or office, without worrying about space issues.

With a resolution of 1200 x 810 the flexible panel has circa one million megapixels, LG stated. The panel can be rolled into a cylinder of radius 3 cm, without affecting the display quality.
The remarkable qualities achieved by LG's displays are due to the use of OLED technology. This technology allows the production of such displays which are lighter, thinner, and are extremely flexible. These bendable displays can bring a revolution in the tech industry, especially since LG is planning to mass produce them for cellphones.
The transparent display panel by LG has 30-percent transmittance, or in other words- clarity, which is quite an improvement from the common LCD panels which have a transmittance of 10 percent. According to LG, these new display technology also reduces the amount of haze in the panels.
One interesting thing to note here is that it is not only LG which is working on such bendable displays. Apple, Nokia, and even Samsung has been working on the same technology for years now. However, only LG has been able to bring a cutting-edge development, and is leading the sphere now.
"LG Display pioneered the OLED TV market and is now leading the next-generation applied OLED technology," In-Byung Kang, LG Display's senior vice president, stated.
