BlackBerry Introduces Cross Platform Apps And Services Plus BBM Custom Pins For Android

BlackBerry unveiled its cross-platform apps and services during the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The BlackBerry Experience Suite that focuses on productivity, communication and security will be available for iOS, Windows and Android later this year, according to the BlackBerry website.

BlackBerry said it developed the BlackBerry Experience Suite to "bring out their strength to deliver a deeply-integrated productivity, communication and security experiences to all smartphones and tablet device running with iOS, Android and Windows."

BlackBerry CEO John Chen said "this is a major company-wide initiative in BlackBerry's commitment to build out our robust software portfolio". He also said they'll continue to broaden their range of software and give consumers what they need using this app.

This collaboration should create a great revenue stream for BlackBerry, and could also mean a possible market share increase for these apps and services.

BlackBerry also announced a new version of its messenger app featuring the interesting BBM Custom PIN.

This PIN Subscription allows new and existing users to personalize 6 to 8 alphanumeric PINs. It's available for $1.99. This feature will make adding contacts easier than before, and will enable the sharing of photos in group chats and channels. The new BBM Custom PIN will be available soon for Android and iOS users.

MWC has been the world's largest and grandest exhibition for the mobile industry since 2009. This event is attended by famous mobile brands and gives people around the globe a first look at their upcoming products and services. MWC started March 2 and will end March 5.
