Hyundai has recalled 205,000 Elantra sedans in the United States and 58,000 in Canada for power steering defects.
The models and years affected are the Elantra Sedan 2008 and 2010, 2009 and 2010 for Elantra Touring version vehicles.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Hyundai issued the recall due to a power steering glitch that automatically turns automatic steering to manual steering, an abrupt change that requires excellent driving skill. This recall is meant to prevent sudden crashes.

Hyundai said it's been reviewing this issue since 2010. Most car companies let car owners pay for the repair fees unless their vehicle is insured or still covered by a warrant. But Hyundai won't charge any fees to car owners in this Elantra recall.
As of this writing, Hyundai hasn't reported any incidents involving the defect.
