Andy Lau on His Family’s Vegetarian Diet: “I Wanted to Ensure that the Family Had a Clean and Wholesome Diet”

Fifty three-year old Hong Kong actor Andy Lau is well known for keeping his private affairs extremely private. Even when he and his wife, Carol Chu, are out in the public, they are surrounded by several body guards and Carol uses a facemask to avoid getting spotted.
After news of the birth of their daughter Hanna Lau in 2012 made their rounds online, Andy shielded her from the general public and has only shared a single photo which showed her hand.

Over the recently concluded Lunar New Year holiday, Andy revealed that he was able to spend more time with his wife and daughter and shared that all of them are vegetarians. In fact, Hanna, her daughter, had been on a strict vegetarian diet ever since she was born.
The moment Hanna was born, Andy said that he stopped acting for a quite some time and rejected movie offers so he can focus on taking care of her. He explained that the nanny they hired wasn't vegetarian, so he had to be the one responsible for preparing the vegetarian meals for his family. Adding that he wanted to ensure "that the entire family had a clean and wholesome diet."
Proving even more how serious Andy is about their privacy, he reportedly did not plan a banquet to celebrate his daughter's first month. However, he did follow other Hong Kong traditions including giving vinegar and ginger, which he specifically ordered from a vegetarian restaurant-to celebrate an infant's full month-to family and friends.
