After months of speculating which team Ray Allen would join before the Playoffs, the veteran three-point master pulled the ultimate twist as he declares that he will not be joining any team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) this season.

Allen has used his time wisely after last season to assess his options. Throughout the 2014-2015 season, he had sat back and watched from the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family.

Earlier, he stated that he would bide his time and scout out for the right team to join before the playoffs.

However, he announced last Wednesday that he will not be suiting up for any team at all. Allen will be taking the rest of the season off to decide his options for the 2015-2016.

Allen said that over the past several months, he had taken time to deliberate what was best for him. He went on, saying that he did not want to play this season and that he will be taking the current season to assess his future.

He ends where he left off at the end of last season: spending time with his family and deciding what his fate will be for the future.

Allen spent his last two season playing with Lebron James and Dwyane Wade with the Miami Heat. Despite a championship and considerable success, he did not re-sign nor look for another team.

People assumed that he would sign with a contending team this year, but will stay on the sidelines even though his agent Jim Tanner says that plenty of teams have been inquiring about him.

Even though Allen turns 40 next season, ESPN Stats & Info has announced that he is still the all-time leader in three point field goals made with 2,973. This is 413 attempts more than anyone in NBA history.
