Over 70,000 Argentinean fans flew to Rio de Janeiro to support their team only to see their team get beaten by a 1-0 loss to Germany. However, in spite of the dull play performed by the team early in the game, the team still showed determination throughout the play.
Meanwhile, some fans expressed their disappointment with the performance Lionel Messi, Argentina's team captain. Messi, crowned world-player of the year for four years, was expected to lead Argentina's national team to win the finals. He was compared to Diego Maradona who led the 1990 team that defeated Germany in the World Cup.
