It has been a very challenging and emotional time for Harrison Ford's family and friends, after he crashed his plane on a golf course in Los Angeles and suffered serious injuries.

According to his son, Ben, The 72-year old "Indiana Jones" actor, who has a deep cut on his face, was "battered" but is doing okay. He was immediately brought to a local hospital, where his wife, actress Calista Flockhart, daughter Georgia and Ben rushed to his side.

Calista, who is best known for playing Abby in Ally McBeal, stayed late at the hospital on Thursday and was seen driving looking exhausted and holding a tissue the next day. Later that Friday, she returned to the hospital to look after her husband.

An insider told People that Calista immediately arrived at the emergency room a short while after Ford. The insider revealed that the 50-year old actress looked extremely concerned and remained at Harrison's side till late Thursday night. The next day, she drove son Liam to school, then went back to the hospital.

The couple dated for eight years before Harrison proposed to Calista on February 2009 and got married on June 15, 2010 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

A source described the family as normal, down-to-earth and loving. "Flying is something they've shared. This whole thing must be terrifying," the source said.

On Thursday, his son Ben posted a tweet and informed fans that his dad is okay. He added that "he is an incredibly strong man," but admitted that the whole incident was also #veryscary.
