In January, Asus announced the release of the ZenFone Zoom ZX550, which it claims is the world's thinnest 3X optical smartphone.

The ZenFone display is a 5.5 inch, full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels and made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The upcoming smartphone has a dimension of 158.9 x 78.84 x 11.95 and weighs 185 grams. There are only 2 colors available for the ZenFone: meteorite black or glacier white.

The ZenFone's GPS uses A-GPS and GLONASS for navigation, Wireless internet connection can be obtained through Wi-Fi Direct or Bluetooth 4.0. 

The ZenFone, however, doesn't have a radio but does have a 3.5 mm audio jack for the headset.  Network speed will depend on the country's carrier but it can deliver the maximum LTE speed category 4.   

The Asus ZenFone ZX550 is installed with the ZenUI and the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.  Depending on your country, the ZenFone can have an eMMC main storage of up to 128 GB.  The smartphone also has an SD slot that store up to 64 GB of data.  Asus also provides a lifetime WebStorage of up to 5 GB.

ZenFone's processor is an Intel Atom Z3580 Quad-core 2.3 GHz chip. The amount of RAM can range from 2 to 4 GB.    

The rear camera has a 13 MP 3x optical zoom.  It has optical image stabilization and a dual-LED flash. In addition, the camera also has HDR, face detection, touch focus and Geo-tagging.

The front camera has 5 MP, a wide angle lens that's great for selfies with a panoramic view. The video has 1080 pixels running at 30 fps.

The ZenFone's sensors include an accelerometer, ambient-light, digital compass, gyroscopic, Hall-effect and proximity.  It has a Li-Po 3,000 mAh non-removable battery.

The ZenFone Zoom ZX550 is expected to hit the market in the second quarter of 2015.  Sale price is estimated at $400.
